I use Gmail as my main email account, and at the top of my inbox I get little adverts or new snippets. I can’t say I ever took much notice of them, but tonight I got this little gem. (NSFW-ish). Scott and I spent a good ten minutes figuring out how to use it, and asking the question “What happens if the man wearing it gets a little excited”? All I can think is ‘ouch’. And isn’t it a pretty shade of pink

Posted in Weird, in the news on April 13, 2007 by chaotickittyI found two (well, 3 sort of) news articles on the bbc new website that I decided to share and voice my opinion on.
First off:

Web revellers wreck family home
About 200 youngsters caused damage put at £20,000 to a family home after a party organised on a website. Police said a teenage girl used the social networking site MySpace to advertise the party while her parents were away from home on Easter Monday.
The 17-year-old’s mother has described the party as “house rape” and called the revellers “worse than animals”.
I feel sorry for the girls parents, I really do, but I really have to wonder about the intelligence of a 17 year old who would advertise a party on MySpace. But look, in the second news article, the girls account was conveniently hacked and SOMEONE ELSE posted about the party *shock horror*. Sorry sweetcheeks, I don’t buy it. Think about it, someone not only hacked her account, but also knew the correct address to send the people to? Either thats one hell of a coincidence, or he has some rather sick and twisted ‘friends’ who played a very mean joke. Personally however, I think she did it all herself, probably thinking the only people who would see the ad and turn up would be friends. But this is the internet, and a party is a party, especially when you can go to said party without anyone knowing who you are, where you are from and you can probably get away with acting like the people in this case. Well, its a valuable lesson learned the hard way (and the expensive way): Don’t put your name and address on the web and invite people to come visit and party, because more people will see it than you think.
Anyway, the second article I found I am sad to say made me giggle, though I know it shouldn’t have.

Crocodile severs Taiwan vet’s arm
Surgeons in Taiwan have reattached a vet’s arm, after it was bitten off by a crocodile as he tried to give it an anaesthetic injection.
After six hours of surgery, Chang Po-yu is said to be doing well and in a stable condition in hospital.
Now, before you think I am a horrible person, its not the arm biting thing that made me giggle, its the second to last line of the article:
According to media reports, his girlfriend and mother seemed more worried than he was, with his friends voicing concern about how soon he would be able to play the piano.
Proof that even in the most horrible circumstances a little humor can make things seem better. I hope the guy is ok, he was only trying to do his job after all, and mistakes happen from time to time, no one is perfect. I am also glad that the crocodile wasn’t killed during all this, it was only doing what came naturally.
Who needs insomnia when you can give yourelf nightmares!!
Posted in Funny, Weird, scary on April 12, 2007 by chaotickittyI haven’t been sleeping too badly the past week or so, probably thanks to not being to well, then exhausting myself at my cousins wedding. So, what do I do to myself tonight? Why, i read a huge forum post full of scary pictures! Guess who is sleeping with the lights and tv on tonight!
For example, this video.

Meant to be a short film about codependency and the like, it still scared the living crap out of me, good effects or not.
For the most part the thread was full of ‘ghost’ pictures, right the way through to pretty horrific things like ‘harlequin fetuses’ (trust me, DON’T look it up). Funnily enough some of the creepiest pics were of natural things, showing once again mother nature trumps all horror directors.
But the best thing was, I discovered an amazing artist, Zdzisław Beksiński. His work is downright creepy, but amazing at the same time. For example:

More of his stuff can be seen on his website, http://www.beksinski.pl/. Sadly he was murdered in 2005, what a terrible waste of talent.
And oddly enough, the sight of this thing doing its job freaks me the hell out…

Now excuse me whilst I sit on my sofa hugging various cats until morning.
