Not The Type of ‘Plastered’ I hoped for this christmas.

When I went to the hospital on tuesday the doctors decided I need to have the cast on my arm for another three weeks ‘just in case’.  Which means I am in plaster over christmas and new year.  Not a happy kitty.  Christmas I can deal with, even if I can’t cut up my food too well, but new year I am a little pissed off about as I was hoping to go out, and a bright white cast isn’t really going to go very well with any outfit I can wear.  Bugger.  Lol, don’t I sound like a fashion vicitm ><

In training this week, which is basically going in one ear and out the other.  But trainer is nice, a guy called Ty who I am fairly sure is gay and loves the phrase ‘Whoops Apocalypse’, which is driving me mad as I have heard it somewhere else but cannot remember where for the life of me.

Christmas in gonna be hectic. I finish at 6pm on christmas eve, after which I have to catch the 7.05pm train to Bentham, spend christmas day and boxing day with mum and dad, then I am in work at 9am on the 27th which means catching a stupidly early bus from Bentham.  All those months where mum and dad said they wanted to spend xmas alone, and when I finally get a job and it becomes too late to book any time off, they want us over after all.  Just typical.

Oh, and the DVLA are still investigating the incident with my scooter.  The export license hasn’t been granted though, and they are looking into the case.

Should have just stood on the damn cat…

It had totally slipped my notice that I haven’t written about my recent misfortune in this blog.  Everyone else has had a good laugh about it, so I may as well throw it open to the rest of the Intarwebs to laugh at too.

After months of longing and waiting, I finally got a Nintendo Wii on Monday 3rd, along with Zelda:Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4 and Resient Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. All great games. I was happy I could have flown.

Fast forward to the morning of Tuesday 4th. Its not even 7 am and I’m getting ready to go to work, coming downstairs after and a kitten dashes under my foot. I am only two steps from the bottom, and when I try and avoid the kitten, I fall those last two steps. All seemed intact, apart from a lightly twisted left ankle, a sore right hand/wrist and one squashed and broken cat food bowl that had been lurking down there. But the hand got worse, and when I got on the bus to work my work mate Peter advised me to stop on the bus a few stops longer and go to the hospital to get it checked out. So I did, and it seems I have cracked the Trapezium bone, just below my right thumb. So here I am, plastered, but not in a good way.  And its amazing how hard simple things can be when you have to do them left handed.  like wiping your butt, do have any IDEA how hard that it?  And using the mouse on my PC, I can just about do it right handed, but I have to hold my arm in an odd postion and it makes my shoulder hurt, so if I am doing something thats going to take time I do it left handed.

But, luckily, as it was only a small bone I should be unplastered next tuesday.  I can’t wait, I can have a bath without hanging my arm over the side so it stays dry.  And wash my hair and brush it with ease!!

Meh, I shouldn’t complain, its not like I am totally helpless.  I am managing, but its amazing how much you take for granted when you have two fully working arms.

Bitten on the Bum!

No, that hasn’t happened to me, but it has happened to poor little Mac, the loving black cat I share my house with.  Poor little guy, he has only just gotten over the trauma of being neutered, which was no normal task as he had an retained testicle and that meant the vet had to find it, ad then yesterday he came bounding to greet me with a horrible burst abscess on the underside of his tail, right at the base.  Not being in the habit of looking at his bottom often it had gone un-noticed until it had gotten to the nasty icky gooey stage.   Probably caused by being bitten by another cat.

So we packed him off to the vets.  Again.  He was given a shot of anti-biotics, and we have tablets to feed him and cream to put on it (not pleasant), but it could be a problematic one due to the area its in.  If it doesn’t heal up on its own there isn’t enough skin to pull together to repair the damage, and even if there was because of where it is the stress and movement of the skin would make if hard to keep the stitches in.  The vet didn’t say what would happen if it doesn’t heal on its own, but it can’t be good.

Mac doesn’t like having the cream put on it, not that I enjoy putting cream on his bum, and he won’t take the pills without some gentle ‘persuasion’, but what amazes me is that no matter how much he complains and hisses about what we are doing to him, the moment we finish doing it he forgives us and wants cuddling.  Which usually means the cream ends up all over mine or Scott’s trousers, but never mind.

Its looking better today, but it still nasty.  The sore area is about 2cm wide by 4 cm long, and there are two rather nasty holes right through the skin, but its not bleeding and oozing like it was.  I am hoping that is a good sign.
